When was the last time you went out to have a nice dinner or to the movies - without the kids? Well, now is your chance! Parents' Night Out (Friday Evening Respite) began from a grant received in 1989. Children from all three NLF sites spend the evening at the Bush Site from 5:30 to 10:30pm. Teachers take care of the children and feed them dinner, usually pizza and salad. They do arts and crafts projects and play in the playhouse. Everyone has a great time.
When you come to pick up your children, they will probably be watching a video tape. This helps the kids settle down as the evening comes to an end. You may have a hard time leaving because they often want to stay and find out how the video ends. Respites are announced in advanced, and since the number of children is limited, it is recommended you sign-up early. There will be a sign-up sheet on the parent's table. Have a great evening out! Just remember, don't be late picking up your child. Penalties include a late fee and ineligibility for the next respite night - this is the hardest form of punishment. We offer four to five Respites a year, and the cost is currently $6.00 per child including dinner. Children must be toilet trained.
