There are no set qualifications for being a volunteer committee member. We welcome community supporters, alumni or anyone interested in helping us. To learn more about becoming a committee member, please contact the committee chairperson.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Publish newsletter three times a year to develop and maintain communication between Board of Directors, parents and staff
  • Work to continue the development of this website

Required Skills and Interests

  • A parent volunteer representing each NLF location to solicit questions, concerns and announcements from parents.
  • Computer skills
  • Optional: Ability to maintain NLF website

Committee Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize regular special events like Family Skating Night, Oshogatsu Matsuri, Mochitsuki and Halloween Night
  • Work closely with staff to organize activities

  • No special skills required, just enthusiasm and organizational talent

Committee Responsibilities

  • Coordinate parent volunteers to maintain physical plant
  • Plan work days including annual site clean-up
  • Assist in lease negotiation and proposal writing
  • Identify resources to improve facilities and lease

The committee will address the following areas:

  • Identification of necessary resources to maintain and develop existing facilities
  • A feasibility study for expansion and ownership of existing sites

Required Skills and Interests

  • Familiarity of existing sites
  • Background in site development helpful
  • Knowledge of building maintenance

  • Enhance and develop NLF's relationships with the Japantown and San Francisco community
  • Identify areas to promote the well-being of San Francisco children and their families
  • Meet on a quarterly basis - additional meeting(s) convened as necessary

  • Strong interest in interacting with the community
  • Interest in building new relationship which will foster the mission of NLF
